This work is created and offered from the land now known as Macon, the ancestral homeland of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and other Indigenous peoples who lived, worked, produced knowledge, and cared for this land for generations. In 1821, the Muscogee (Creek) people were forcibly dispossessed and removed from this region. Colonization is not only a historical event but an ongoing process that continues to impact Indigenous communities today. Despite this, Indigenous peoples remain resilient in protecting their cultural lifeways, ecological knowledge, and relationship with the land. As a space devoted to healing, growth, and connection, this practice offers gratitude and respect to the Muscogee (Creek) people past and present. This acknowledgment reflects a commitment to ongoing learning, humility, and support for Indigenous communities, as well as a dedication to honoring the land and the people who have long cared for it.
